Adaptix files eighth patent for 3D X-ray device inventions

Adaptix today announced that it has filed for its eighth patent to protect the development of its addressable Flat Panel X-ray Source (‘FPS’), which enables fast movement-free 3D imaging at a significantly lower radiation dose than CT.

 

The patent portfolio now covers the full system including methods and apparatus for producing X-rays and the tools for 3-D image reconstruction. The Flat-Panel X-ray source is designed to allow 3D image formation, by means of tomosynthesis, using existing generations of detectors and workstations allowing a system price point similar to that of current 2D systems.

 

Commenting on this latest development, Dr Gil Travish, Chief Science Officer at Adaptix said, “The combination of patents awarded and filed gives us the freedom to continue to operate and innovate, while protecting our further research and development into distributed arrays.”

 

Adaptix’s IP portfolio includes a patent licensed from UCLA in 2009 where the work began in Dr Travish’s lab on pyroelectric-driven X-ray sources. The company has a database of over 100 key inventions all pointing towards a significant transformation in radiology globally.
