Cleanroom Technician (full details... click here)
We are looking for a Cleanroom Technician with a strong background in silicon etching and fabrication who can apply these skills in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This is a full-time role for one year in the first instance.
This role is cleanroom-based and you will support the design and fabrication of the company’s prototype devices as part of a small team at the world-renowned Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Harwell, Oxfordshire. You will initially support low-volume manufacture during the R&D phase whilst processes are refined, and then progress to assisting with manufacturing larger volumes once the recipe is stable.
You will have the opportunity to apply your processing knowledge and creativity to significantly impact company technology. You will be working closely with a bright and creative team of physicists and engineers who have deep experience in both semiconductor research and product development and design. You will have an unrivalled opportunity to develop cutting edge technology which will revolutionise healthcare options for millions and help us to disrupt the Medical Imaging industry.

2020 Summer Engineering Internship (full details... click here)
Medical imaging affects lives and at Adaptix we are helping make 3D imaging more accessible to the people who need it. We are developing a mobile 3D X-ray source that will be safer, lighter, more capable and lower cost than existing technology.
Each year we recruit talented, motivated and self-directed students to join our prestigious summer internship programme. Our interns have an opportunity to contribute to real-world projects with a high impact on our mission and technology.
The specific challenge that we are trying to address during this internship is how to account for patient motion during a 3D dental X-ray image acquisition using our new X-ray generation technology.
The approaches you will develop and investigate include:
· How to incorporate micro inertial sensors (accelerometers and gyroscopes) found in today’s mobile phones into a small X-ray detector
· How to use the stream of data generated by these devices into accurate positional information
· How to incorporate this positional information into the 3D image reconstruction algorithm
· How to develop mechanical methods for reducing patient motion while maintaining patient comfort and ease of use by radiographers.
The structure of your internship will vary depending on your particular engineering strengths and interests. If you have a strong preference for electrical engineering, you might want to focus on the hardware aspects of the project. If you have more of a software focus, then you might want to look at how to translate raw data into positional information. In all cases, you have an opportunity to make a significant real-world contribution and work with a bright and creative team.
Please ensure you have the right to work in the UK before contacting us.
In 2017 we decided to offer our first apprenticeship opportunities within the commercial team. Our goals were to support the career development of young people and develop a future talent pipeline for our company.
Our Apprentices benefit from close mentoring from their line managers. They undertake a wider variety of tasks and gain greater commercial exposure than they might receive in a larger organisation. At Adaptix they are included as equal members of the team and the mentoring provides significant additional support to enable them to bridge the gap from school leaver to professional.
